SUMMARY:Book Club Christmas Social
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate a wonderful year of book clubs with all our lovely bookworms\, for December we are hosting a social! Come together for the love of reading\, and meet more of the wonderful folk who have made our book club community such a welcoming place to be. Rather than a specific book\, we have put together our list of ‘The Book Club That Never Was’; all the books that did not make the cut for our meetings. Questions and talking points will be dotted around the room\, as well as copies available to buy in store in the lead up to the occasion. We will also have bookish bingo and games\, so no pre-reading required. \n \nTickets will be completely free; just show up and enjoy our café offerings as well as some delightful conversations with folks who have reads lots of the same books as you! We will also be announcing our 2024 book here  – show up to get your hands on our January title!

After the twinkling lights in the Fleet Street coffee shops are blown out and the great houses have closed their doors for the night\, Sancho must dodge slave catchers and worse. The man he hoped would help – a kindly duke who taught him to write – is dying. Sancho is desperate and utterly alone. \nSo how does Charles Ignatius Sancho meet the King\, write and play highly acclaimed music\, become the first Black person to vote in Britain and lead the fight to end slavery? \nIt’s time for him to tell his story\, one that begins on a tempestuous Atlantic Ocean\, and ends at the very centre of London life. And through it all\, he must ask: born amongst death\, how much can you achieve in one short life?

At night they head out to Sarmiento Park to earn money. They stand together in the cold\, sharing stories and a hip flask of whiskey\, waiting for a car to slow down. Until\, one freezing evening\, Auntie Encarna hears crying in the bushes and wades in to investigate. When she finds an abandoned baby boy\, she will hear no arguments: she is bringing him home to care for him. Life for Camila and the others will never be the same again.
