SUMMARY:Little Bookworms January
DESCRIPTION:Have you got a little bookworm in your life? Then look no further than House of Books & Friends. We are excited to invite you to Little Bookworms\, our monthly book club for 8-12 years. The book club runs the first Sunday of every month\, 11am-12pm. \nFor January\, we will be reading Nowhere Island by Tania Unsworth. You have until the day of the book club to finish the title – this is available to buy as part of your ticket\, or you can purchase a ticket only. \nAs well as discussing the book\, there will be book-related activities each month for our Little Bookworms to get stuck into\, fun quizzes and games\, and squash and biscuits for all. Our Little Bookworms will also get their own book lovers passport to add to each month they attend as they jet set around the world through reading. \nAll sessions will be ticketed: £8.99 for the book and ticket\, and £2 for just the ticket. All little ones must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased on our website and in store. A limited number of complementary tickets will also be reserved for those who might need them so please do let us know. \nIf you have any questions about the book club or tickets\, you can always take a look at our website\, email us\, or ask a friendly bookseller in store. \nAbout the book: \nHidden at the intersection of several busy highways behind the trees and scrubby undergrowth is an island\, full of secrets… \nPez has lived there for a while now\, enjoying the solitude. She has a vegetable patch\, a routine\, her own way of doing things and a condor\, who may be outstaying his welcome. Runaway brothers\, Riley and Grayson call the island home too. They keep their distance from Pez and spend precarious days trying to survive\, still relying on the man-made world which speeds around them. \nThen Gil arrives\, with his hagstone and a dream of happy families\, and everything changes. The four of them find a way of living and believe they might stay on the island forever. But all too soon they witness something they should never have seen and they’re in deadly danger…

SUMMARY:The Feminist Book Club with Kate Feld - JANUARY
DESCRIPTION:House of Books & Friends are delighted to announce that we are hosting the Feminist Book Club with facilitator Kate Feld. Taking place monthly\, this will be a space for people of all genders to discuss feminist books. In December\, we will be discussing All Fours by Miranda July. \nTickets\nBook and ticket: £20\nTicket only: £3 \nAs always\, there are a limited amount of complimentary tickets available for those who need them. Please contact us directly at bookworms@houseofbooksandfriends.com or call 07597 365380. \nAbout the book \nMiranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice\, perfect comic timing\, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy and palpable delight in pushing boundaries\, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment\, part tender reinvention of the sexual\, romantic and domestic life of a 45-year-old female artist\, All Fours transcends expectations while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman. Once again\, July hijacks the familiar and turns it into something new and thrillingly\, profoundly alive. \nThe author and film-maker explores dance\, desire\, mortality and transcendence on a wild autofictional journey

Aose determines that he must discover the truth behind this cruel and inexplicable dismissal of the Yoshino house and in doing so will find out a truth that goes back to the core of who he is.
