Little Bookworms August

Have you got a little bookworm in your life? Then look no further than House of Books & Friends. We are excited to invite you to Little Bookworms, our monthly book club for 8-12 years. The book club runs the first Sunday of every month, 11am-12pm.
For August, we will be reading Dexter Proctor the 10-year-old Doctor by Adam Kay. You have until the day of the book club to finish the title β this is available to buy as part of your ticket, or you can purchase a ticket only.
As well as discussing the book, there will be book-related activities each month for our Little Bookworms to get stuck into, fun quizzes and games, and squash and biscuits for all. Our Little Bookworms will also get their own book lovers passport to add to each month they attend as they jet set around the world through reading.
All sessions will be ticketed:Β Β£7.99Β for theΒ book and ticket, andΒ Β£2Β for just theΒ ticket. All little ones must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased on our website and in store. A limited number of complementary tickets will also be reserved for those who might need them so please do let us know.
If you have any questions about the book club or tickets, you can always take a look at our website, email us, or ask a friendly bookseller in store.
About the book:
It was clear from an early age that Dexter Procter was different.
He started speaking at four seconds old. By the age of three, he had 87 A-levels, from Afrikaans to Zoology.
And by ten, he was working as a paediatrician at Lilydale General Hospital.
Despite a loving but annoying family and a couple of good friends (Rupi and Otto), Dexterβs always struggled to fit in. Add to this a mortal enemy (Dr Drake) and a major problem at his old school (all the teachers struck down with awful diarrhoea) β will Dexter be able to save his job, save the school and find his place in the world? (Spoiler alert: yes!)
A laugh-out-loud new fiction series about the world’s youngest doctor from the record-breaking Adam Kay and Henry Paker.
