It’s the National Year of Reading, and House of Books and Friends are collaborating with literacy specialist Sarah Bagshaw-McCormick to bring you a reading group with a difference - bringing teachers out of the classroom and into the discussion!

Hear a little about how you can encourage your students reading, meet your new favourite book and get great, diverse and up to date recommendations for students of every age.

On Monday 16th February we’ll be starting with recommendations around a theme of Mystery. We will have a selection of titles to discuss, covering picture book to young adult, for all stages of the curriculum. The even will begin at 10.30am, and last one hour.

Attendance is free; please register your interest at the link in our bio!

February is LGBTQ+ History Month in the UK! This is an annual celebration of queer people, and aims to highlight the importance of queer history. It is a reminder to read LGBTQ+ stories to spread the message and support the community. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
Here are some recommendations from our booksellers to celebrate queer history:
‘Straight Acting’ by Will Tosh
‘The Closet’ by Teo van den Broeke

‘A Short History of Queer Women’ by Kirsty Loehr
‘Fabulosa!’ by Paul Baker
‘The Secret Public’ by Jon Savage
