Marvellous Myths with Ashley Thorpe

We are so excited to bring back our sell-out kids event from last summer – Marvellous Myths! Join us at 11am on Tuesday 27th August where the incredible author Ashley Thorpe will be joining us to talk through all things Yoruba and West African mythology. Ashley’s expertise have lead to him releasing an incredible book this year, The Boy to Beat the Gods.

Learn about the Orishas, who act on behalf of the almighty Olodumare, the supreme creator. Discover the trickster Eshu, the guardian of the dead Oya, and Oshun, so beautiful that a river in Nigeria gained her name. Ashley will also talk about how a love of manga and anthologies exposed him to mythology from across the world, and how to create your own epic characters and stories.

Suitable for 8-12 years old.

The event will take 1 hour in total, and is FREE to attend. In order for us to track how many people are attending, please register your interest for the event here.

Adults accompanying children are welcome to sit in on the event or browse the bookshop, but children must not be left unsupervised – adults must remain in the building.
