Lord of the flies

£20.00

A plane crashes on a desert island. The only survivors are a group of schoolboys. By day, they explore the dazzling beaches, gorging fruit, seeking shelter, and ripping off their uniforms to swim in the lagoon. At night, in the darkness of the jungle, they are haunted by nightmares of a primitive beast. Orphaned by society, they must forge their own; but it isn’t long before their innocent games devolve into something far more dangerous.

PROUD BOOKSHOP ALERT 📣

At the weekend, our very own bookworm Brooke was awarded the ‘First Chapter Award’ by the Society of Young Publishers! For those who don’t know, Brooke has been with us for two years (today!) and has been the guiding light for almost all of our children’s events, including our recent summer programme. We are so lucky to have such a star amongst our shelves, and we know the publishing world is better for having her in its orbit.

We asked Brooke to leave us with a few words about this achievement:

“I am over the moon to have been recognised alongside other such inspiring candidates. Children's literacy is a cause incredibly close to my heart, so to win this award for the small contribution I'm making? What a dream.”
