Description

** A heartfelt and uplifting picture book from an exciting new talent featuring special blended family relationships and fiery dragon magic **

Tom has an amazing secret – hidden under his bed is an egg. An egg that’s cracking, ready to hatch. An egg that contains . . . a dragon!

When Tina and her mum come to stay with Tom and his dad, Tina and Tom strike up an instant friendship. Tom shares his magical secret with Tina and soon the pair spend their days caring for their little dragon. They make her a bed from a shoebox lined with moss and leaves, feed her tasty morsels of sausages and pizza in special midnight feasts, climb trees together and give her lots and lots of cuddles. Soon she grows – and grows, and grows! And as they grow their dragon, Tina and Tom grow their own very special friendship too.

But then Tina’s mum decides it’s time for them to go back home. Tom and Tina’s friendship looks like it will have to come to an end.

Unless their dragon can keep them together. . .

June 15th - 21st 2026 is a week dedicated to loneliness awareness. Loneliness is something we all experience and by taking part you can create space for more open conversations and meaningful connections.
2026 marks 10 years of the campaign, and this year’s theme is Giving Loneliness a Voice. By sharing real, human stories of loneliness – and the wonderful power of understanding and connection – together we can make people experiencing loneliness feel less alone.
Here are some fiction and non-fiction recommendations that we feel gives loneliness a voice and fosters empathy for those struggling to form connections.

Bookseller Laura thinks you should all read Fruit Fly this pride month!šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ
"Go Gay Go Sad Go Dark"
Literary sensation Mallory Maddox is chasing inspiration for her next bestseller after 7 years of writer’s block and what better inspiration than a gay drug addict in his twenties??? Fruit Fly was camp, funny, sad and dark all at the same time with two incredible main characters that I loved so much. The plot was handled so well, it kept me entertained and wanting more. Please please please read this book - you will not regret it!šŸ“šā£ļø

Join bookseller Brooke in conversation with Jess Bacon on Monday 15th June to discuss 'I'm Just a Girl: how reclaiming girlhood can redefine womanhood.' Here's what Brooke has to say on the book:
'An accessible examination of the paradoxical nature of girlhood and the challenges facing modern women, reading it felt like receiving thoughtful advice from a big sister! I’m really looking forward to chairing this event - certainly one for the girlies.'
