The news about our bookshop has been spreading far and wide. We’ve been featured in a lot of publications, including The Manchester Evening News.
The response has been overwhelmingly encouraging with many people from the local area contacting us asking how they can get involved. We will have more information for everyone who wants to help soon. We were not expecting to get all of this coverage this early in our journey, so the spotlight has been a wonderful surprise to everyone working on the project and we are very thankful for it.
Therefore, we just wanted to say thank you to all the journalists and publications that have chosen to feature us, and to everyone who has read the articles and been so positive about our new bookshop. Choosing to use your voice and influence to promote our cause really does make the world of difference. We can’t wait to welcome you all to House of Books & Friends!
We’re proud to announce that we are now members of the Booksellers Association! The BA is an organisation that supports and advises booksellers. They are also the brains behind some brilliant book industry campaigns, like Books Are My Bag and Independent Bookshop Week, which we can’t wait to get involved in. Our fellow members have many years of bookshop experience and they are always happy to share the tips and tricks they have picked up along their journey.
So thank you to all the folks at the BA, who have been so kind and welcoming to our new bookshop. If any other new or prospective bookshops are reading this, we would highly recommend joining up!
Opening in Autumn 2022, our first House of Books & Friends shop will open in Manchester, bringing you thousands of titles you will be able to touch, see and smell. Our beautiful Bookshop will be home to a range of projects, working with charity partners and be a real hub of the community.
