Do you believe bookshops play a powerful role in bringing communities and people together?
We’re looking to recruit Event Volunteers to help us create a warm, inclusive and engaging environment for visitors attending events and community sessions at House of Books & Friends.
As an Event Volunteer you could be supporting either or both of the following;
- Bookshop-led events (e.g. author talks, book clubs, socials)
- Community programmes as part of The Loneliness Project organised by the gunnercooke foundation (e.g. Coffee & Connections, Craft Club, SEND family programmes, Beyond Words Book Club, Loneliness Awareness Week events)
You can find more information about the role and the skills we are looking for, in the Volunteer Recruitment Pack below. Please note, you must be 18+ to volunteer.
If you’d like to register your interest, please complete the Application Form and Diversity Monitoring Form below. You can also pick up a paper copy from House of Books & Friends, just ask a member of staff. Please return your completed application by email to admin@thegunnercookefoundation.com or hand it in to a member of staff at the bookshop by Monday 17 August.
Event Volunteer Application Form
Please note: As this is the first time we’re running this programme, to help us get things off to the best possible start, we’re recruiting a small number of volunteers for our first intake. We’d love to hear from everyone who’s interested, but please be aware that places are limited. If you’re not selected for this first round, we’ll keep your details (with your permission) and let you know about future opportunities.
Thank you for your interest in supporting House of Books & Friends and helping us build stronger, more connected communities. If you would like an informal chat or need any assistance in completing the forms, please get in touch with our foundation Community Builder, Lara (lara.bland@thegunnercookefoundation.com)
